Explosive Actuated Valve
The key component of the explosive actuated valve (explosive cartridge actuator) independently developed by the company meets the high-reliability operation requirements under harsh environmental conditions in nuclear power plants, such as high temperature, high humidity, and high radiation.
In the event of a severe accident at a nuclear power plant, the explosive actuated valve can be activated by an electrical signal to trigger the explosive device, opening the valve within 0.1 seconds to inject cooling water into the reactor core, preventing core meltdown. It is often referred to as the "final line of defense" for nuclear safety. The CAP1400 explosive actuated valve key component (explosive cartridge actuator) independently developed by Dalian Dagao Valve Co., Ltd. also meets these stringent requirements. The parameters developed represent the world's First-of-a-Kind (Set), possessing independent intellectual property rights and technology, reaching internationally leading levels. It was recognized in 2023 as a National Major Technological Equipment, listed in the third batch of First-of-a-Kind (Set) equipment in the energy sector.

(2) Scope of Application
The explosively actuated valve is key equipment for performing safety functions in passive nuclear power plants. Upon receiving the ignition command signal, it detonates to generate high-pressure gas, causing the tension bolts to fracture, thereby driving the piston to accelerate and fully open the valve. The entire process ensures the integrity of the pressure boundary.
The explosively actuated valve is used for the fourth-stage automatic depressurization subsystem of the Automatic Depressurization System (ADS), the low-pressure safety injection pipeline and containment recirculation pipeline of the Passive Core Cooling System (PXS), to mitigate and prevent design basis accidents and severe accidents.
(3) Achievement Application Status
Dalian Dago Valve Co., Ltd. signed procurement contracts for explosively actuated valves for Unit 1 of the State Nuclear Pressurized Water Reactor Demonstration Project with State Nuclear Power Engineering Company in Beijing in 2013, and for explosively actuated valves for Units 3 and 4 of the Haiyang Nuclear Power Plant Phase II Project. In 2023, the company signed a procurement contract for explosively actuated valves for Units 5 and 6 of the Shandong Haiyang Nuclear Power Project with Shanghai Nuclear Engineering Research & Design Institute Co., Ltd. In September 2021, 12 explosively actuated valves were delivered for Unit 1 of the State Nuclear Pressurized Water Reactor Demonstration Project, achieving the first domestic demonstration and application of this critical piece of technical equipment (first-of-its-kind).
(4) Intellectual Property Status
Through the development of explosively actuated valves, five patents have been granted, including one invention patent (Heat Treatment Process for Shear Cap of Nuclear Class 1 Explosively Actuated Valve), three utility model patents (A Sealing Structure for Nuclear Power Plant Explosively Actuated Valve, An Explosively Actuated Valve, A Nuclear Power Plant Explosively Actuated Valve with Bidirectional Sealing Structure), and one design patent (Forged Steel Valve Body for Explosively Actuated Valve).
